The nine-year-old Pratik Patil (name changed), had come to Happy Kids Hospital, Neri Naka, Jalgaon for severe abdominal pain from Chalisgaon. Dr. Milind Joshi, a pediatric surgeon and laparoscopic surgeon at the hospital, diagnosed his condition by examining the child and after his sonography. The child was diagnosed with intussusception. The small intestine enters the large intestine and therefore there is a risk of life threatening intestinal complications. Dr. Joshi decided to give complete information about the illness and treatment to the parents and to treat their child with consent. Generally it is advisable to do open surgery. Dr. Joshi, however decided to treat the condition by releasing water through the child's anal opening to treat the condition. This operation is called "Hydrostatic reduction of Intussception". In this, the complications are resolved without the operation, so surgery can be avoided. Through this method Dr. Joshi successfully treated the child without Surgery. In this, he was assisted by Dr. Nikhil Rane, Director of the hospital, Dr. Preeti Joshi. Relatives thanked the doctors for successfully treating their child in Jalgaon.
